Description:
This is a 2-story office building for a general contractor, located within a larger office building. See site plan. A Mezzanine was converted/expanded into a second floor for office/storage use. Building Dept. is requiring a people's lift. Owner is appealing the request, requesting a waiver.
*Briefly explain why the request has now been referred to the Commission.
Owner did the work without a building permit. Owner has hired an architect to modify remodeling work in those parts that do not comply with Code. The lift would have been a Waiver request in any event.

We are requesting that the lift not be required to provide. 1) There are accessible accommodations for all functions of the building on the first floor. 2) The cost of providing a lift would be onerous at $40,000. 3) It is almost impossible to find a company that provides lifts in Miami, Florida.
