Manufacturer’s Association (FMA) Accreditor: JDB Code Services,
Inc. BCIS Course Number: 676.0 Motion: Course conditionally approved
based on the FBC accreditation process that only verifies the accuracy of the
Florida Building Code related content, subject
to the title change in the BCIS and the video submission for review or video
verbiage deletion in the “Method of Presentation” section of the syllabus. Motion: Jeffrey Stone Second: Darrell Phillips Discussion: The
Education Administrator stated that the title of the course in the BCIS was
“2014”, and the title on the syllabus and course materials was “Florida
Building Code, 5th Edition (2014) Fenestration Mitigation Advanced Class”. He
further stated that the BCIS course title needs to be changed to the course
title on the syllabus. He also stated that in the “Method of Presentation”
section of the syllabus, it was stated that several short videos would be
used as part of the course materials. Those videos were not included in the
course materials. So, either the videos need to be submitted for review, or
the reference to the videos needs to be deleted from the syllabus. Approved Unanimously Course:2014 Advanced Module

Education Administrator stated that the mid-course quiz and the final exam
did not indicate which answers were correct. For both quizzes, the correct

accreditation process that only verifies the accuracy of the Florida Building
Code related content Motion: Kevin Flanagan Second: Darrell Phillips Discussion: The
Education Administrator stated that this course was submitted to the ED POC
at the October, 2013 meeting as course number 621.0. The ED POC deferred
approval because the content was based on the 5th Edition (2014) Florida
Building Code, which had not been adopted as the next version of the building
code. He
further stated that the 2010 code was referenced as the code version in the
BCIS and also in the title of the course in the BCIS. Both of these
references need to be changed to “2014”. Approved Unanimously |

Continuing Education Systems, LLC Prior Accreditor: BCIC LLC BCIS Course Number: 317.1 Motion: Course conditionally approved based on the FBC
accreditation process that only verifies the accuracy of the Florida Building
Code related content, subject to all
references to the 2010 code in the syllabus and PowerPoint presentation changed
to the current version, “2014”. Motion: Darrell Phillips Second: Kevin Flanagan Discussion: The
Education Administrator stated that the 2010 code was referenced 5 times in
the syllabus, and numerous times in the PowerPoint presentation. All of these
references must be changed to “2014”. Approved Unanimously Course: 2010 Advanced
Module: Private Provider Inspection Provider: Edward Renzi Prior Accreditor: BCIC LLC BCIS Course Number: 593.0 Motion: Course conditionally approved
based on the FBC accreditation process that only verifies the accuracy of the
Florida Building Code related content, subject
to the 2010 code references in the BCIS course title and syllabus course
title be changed to “2014”. Motion: Darrell Phillips Second: Kevin Flanagan Discussion: The
Education Administrator stated that the 2010 code was referenced in the BCIS
course title, and in the title of the course on the syllabus. Both of these
references need to be changed to “2014”. The
Chair asked why this course was not referenced as 593.1. The Education
Administrator agreed that it should be referenced as 593.1. He further stated
that he would check the system to see what happened. Approved Unanimously |

Education Administrator activity
report Discussion: The
Chair asked the Education Administrator to respond to this agenda item. He
stated that other than the normal activities of the Administrator, 44
inquiries were handled since the last meeting. The details of those inquiries
were listed in the report. He asked if there were any questions regarding the
report. No questions were forthcoming. Education
Administrator Activities/Tasks A. Provided administrative support for FBC Education POC
for December 4, 2014 meeting and January 14, 2015 meeting B. Drafted minutes for FBC Education POC December 4, 2014
meeting and January 14, 2015 meeting C. Prepared agenda for FBC Education
POC meeting on January 14, 2015 meeting and February 12, 2015 meeting D. Checking the BCIS to ensure
information is current regarding the FBC Education and Accreditation Program E. Inquiries from the public from November 24, 2014 to January
31, 2015 are as follows:
