Ř Objective: To accept interim report on the research project entitled: Survey and Investigation of Corrosion of Fasteners used to Secure Roofing Systems.

 

Meeting Minutes

Objective

 

1)

 

Welcome and Opening Remarks:  Meeting opened at 3:30pm with meeting protocols regarding muting of phones and personal identification when speaking.

 

2)

Roll Call – Roll Call was taken with a quorum present.

3)

Review and Approval of Meeting Agenda – Motion was provided by Bob Boyer and seconded by Remington Brown to accept the Agenda as posted.  Unanimous approval.

4)

Approval of Minutes of February 6, 2014 – Motion was provided by Billy Cone and seconded by Bob Boyer to accept the previous minutes of February 6, 2014.  Unanimous approval.

5)

Interim Report -  Research project entitled:

Survey and Investigation of Corrosion of Fasteners Used to Secure Roofing Systems.  Mr. Kurtis Gurley of the College of Engineering at the University of Florida provided an overview of the survey questions being prepared for dissemination along with information obtained via Department of Business and Professional Regulation providing a list of Construction/Roofing Contractors, Building Officials and Inspectors who have publicly provided mailing addresses, email addresses and telephone contact information.  Because there is a deadline of June 15, 2014 to complete the survey allowing a very short turnaround time, any questions, concerns or suggestions regarding the survey should be submitted to Mr. Gurley by next Wednesday, April 9, 2014 and no later than Friday, April 11, 2014 so that dissemination could occur on a timely basis and allow adequate time for participant response.

Motion was made by Mr. Bob Boyer and seconded by Mr. Mark Zehnal to accept the survey report as presented.  Unanimous approval.

Other Commission business:

For the next meeting of the Roofing Technical Advisory Committee, Mr. Billy Cone would like to discuss the effective date of the ICC referenced ANSI Standard and the new requirements for meeting the Energy Code.  (Specific Standard number not provided).  He referenced an article in the NRCA that indicated the standard could be acted upon prior to the effective date of the new Florida Building Code.  Reference dates are in question and will be provided at next meeting.

 

Mr. Mark Zehnal questioned a product approval evaluation based on an ICC ES Report (reference 2009 International Code which does not meet the same requirements as the 2010 Florida Building code for evaluation procedures. 

 

April Hammonds, Attorney for the Commission, stated that Mr. Cone’s query could be addressed at the next Roofing TAC meeting and Mr. Zehnal’s request should be directed to the Product Approval Program Oversight Committee.
