An elevator cannot be located outside of the building as it is part of an industrial complex that does not allow any exterior additions to existing buildings.Vertical accessibility is structurally infeasible inside the building due to existing heavily reinforced 2nd floor framing and existing metal roof diaphragm bracing. Elevator construction would cause the manufacturing process to close during construction due to vibration sensitive laser equipment and construction dust.

The offices and labs proposed for the second floor are identical to those located on the first floor. All employees have full access to the first floor. Any handicapped employee will be fully accommodated on the first floor, where the break room and other amenities are located. The business is not open to the public and receives very few outside vendors who do not require access to the second floor.
