Decks, fences, patios, planters, or other wooden building components that directly abut the sidewall of the foundation or structure shall be constructed so as to provide:

1.             Eighteen-inch (457 mm) clearance beneath or,

2.             Six-inch (152 mm) clearance between the top of the component and the exterior wall covering or,

3.             Have components that are easily removable by screws or hinges to allow access for inspection of the foundation sidewall and treatment for termites.

R612.6 Wind-borne debris protection. Protection of exterior windows and glass doors in buildings located in windborne debris regions shall be in accordance with Section R301.2.1.2.

R612.6.1 Fenestration testing and labeling. Fenestration shall be tested by an approved independent laboratory, listed by an approved entity, and bear a label identifying manufacturer, performance characteristics, and approved inspection agency to indicate compliance with the requirements of the following specification:

1. ASTM E 1886 and ASTM E 1996; or

2. AAMA 506.  Reserved

Section R301.2.1.2 Protection of openings. Change to read as follows:

R301.2.1.2 Protection of openings. Exterior glazing Glazed openings in buildings located in windborne debris regions shall be protected from windborne debris. Glazed opening protection for windborne debris shall meet the requirements of the Large Missile Test of ASTM E 1996 and ASTM E 1886 referenced therein, SSTD 12, TAS 201,202, and 203 or AAMA 506, as applicable. The applicable wind zones for establishing missile types in ASTM E 1996 are shown in Section R301.2.1.2.1 on Figure R301.2 (4) . Garage door glazed opening protection for windborne debris shall meet the requirements of an approved impact-resisting standard or ANSI/DASMA 115
