I think a good research topic would be the correlation of
the wind uplift resistance of aged roofs with the designed uplift values when
newly installed. It would be interesting indeed to see if five
year, ten year and older roofs have any relevance to the designed uplift
values. This research should determine any measurable decline in the
uplift resistance with age and, if so, if there a mathematical correlation
that can be applied to see at what point in the roof's life the decline
becomes significant enough to lose the required wind uplift
resistance. After all, if the roofs are not holding the design
uplift values over time, what is the point of designing the roofs to meet
them? |
