Education Administrator Activity Report
Discussion: The
Education Administrator stated that the report contained the normal
activities of the Administrator, including staffing the ED POC meetings and
handling inquiries from a variety of sources concerning the FBC Education
Program. He also stated that “Training Funding” information was also included
in the report, which was promoted by Building A Safer Florida (BASF), and
which included the who/what of eligibility requirements. He stated that if
anyone was interested, or had questions, to contact Cam Fentriss by the email
address listed with the information. A. Provided administrative support for FBC Education POC
for June 11and 18, 2015 meetings B. Drafted minutes for FBC Education POC June 11 and 18,
2015 meetings C. Prepared agenda for FBC Education
POC meeting on August 10, 2015 D. Worked with training providers and
accreditors to ensure compliance with Rule 61G20-6.002 E. Checked the BCIS to ensure
information is current regarding the FBC Education and Accreditation Program F. Inquiries
addressed from June 3, 2015 to July 31, 2015 are as follows: 6 Accreditor 6 Course status 4 BCIS navigation 3 Pool/spa safety/requirements Training Funding Available for 2015-2016 Two types
of funding: 7-hour program or “minimum 1 hour” program Reimbursement

Identify future POC member
discussion items Commissioner Stone asked the Education
Administrator how much code content should be included in an FBC approved
advanced course. The Administrator stated that all advanced code courses must
contain at least 50% code content. Commissioner Stone also asked Mo
Madani if the commissioners were going to receive a hard copy of the building
code, or should they continue to use the online version. Mr. Madani stated
that the ICC was paid to supply a digital version of the code. Chair Dean
stated that she did find the account and created a logon to use the ICC
supplied version of the Florida Building Code. Chair Dean stated that she noticed
inconsistencies among providers when they listed CEU’s for various courses.
She stated that it was her experience that 1 CEU could mean 10 hours of
contact. April Hammonds stated she thought that CEU’s were expressed in 1
hour increments. Mo Madani stated that the DBPR boards relied on the number
of contact hours. Chair Dean stated that she brought this up for discussion
because she noted some inconsistencies. |
