Per discussion by the TAC, it was decided to prioritize and put forth three research projects for possible approval. A motion was put forth by Bob Cochell to adopt these three research projects as follows:

1. Measure temperature, humidity and CO2 levels in new homes.

a. Do homes mechanically ventilated homes have more air exchange than nonmechanically ventilated homes? How do infiltration and/or ventilation impact

temperature, humidity and CO2 levels? Goal is to conduct three months or more of

monitoring in the homes, using CO2 as a qualitative indicator of air exchange.

b. Potential Code Relevance: Alter requirements for air leakage and/or ventilation

2. Residential hot water distribution

a. A hole in the code is that we don’t give credit or penalties to the plumbing distribution system.

b. Code Relevance: Other states and national advanced programs factor in the energy use of hot water distribution systems.

3. Residential kitchen exhaust ventilation

a. Should there be limits placed on the amount of negative pressure kitchen exhaust

systems create?

b. Code Relevance: Adjustment to current code limit

This motion was seconded by Roger Sanders. The motion passed unanimously.
