Question: Would an opening protection system that is tested and analyzed for load resistance, is non-porous in accordance with ASTM E1996, has been tested for cycling and is used in accordance with aforesaid limits of use a. through k. be within the exemption requirements of Section 1609.1.2 Protection of openings and not require to be tested to an impact test? 

 

Answer:  The answer is No. The product in question must also demonstrate compliance with the appropriate impact resistance standard(s) as required by Section 1609.1.2.

Question:  Does the product in FL20760 fall within the scope of Product Approval Rule 61G20-3.001?

 

Answer:  No, this product is outside the scope of the state product approval program. However, the product in question is subject to approval by the local authority having jurisdiction

Question: Is the build out on the left hand front corner of the tub considered a sidewall or an obstruction? If no, is the water closet compartment area measured from the centerline of the water closet to tub and centerline of water closet to vanity?

 

 Answer:  The answer is “Yes”.  As per Section 405.3.1 of the 5th Edition (2014) FBC, Plumbing, the build out in question is considered an obstruction/sidewall and 15-inches of clearance would be required.
