Ø Objectives: To Approve Regular Procedural Topics (Agenda and
Meeting Summary Report) Ø To review and accept the draft report for the
research project entitled “Evaluating the Economic Impacts of the
Legislatively Delayed Provisions of the 5th Edition (2014) Florida
Building Code. Ø To consider, discuss, and provide recommendation for
consideration by the Commission regarding DS 2015-113 by David Galassi of

Discussion of
objectives included the following: |

Agenda
and Meeting minutes. The Agenda for today’s meeting was amended and agenda
item 5 was switched to agenda item 4. The agenda was unanimously approved as
amended. The meeting minutes for the August
08, 2015 Fire TAC meeting were approved unanimously by the committee
members. |

TAC considered, discussed, and
provided recommendation for consideration by the Commission regarding DS
2015-113 by David Galassi of Marion County Building Safety Department. After some discussion, the TAC voted unanimously in agreement with the
staff’s answer. TAC
Actions: Question: Using
table 508.4, does installing a 2 hour separation between the “U” use and the
“R” use eliminate the requirement of sprinkling for the Residential
use per FBC 903.2.8? Answer: No. As
per Sections 420.4 and 903.2.8 of the 5th Edition (2014) FBC,
Building, an automatic sprinkler system is required to be provided throughout
the building in question. |

Objective: To review and accept the draft
report for the research project entitled “Evaluating the Economic Impacts of
the Legislatively Delayed Provisions of the 5th Edition (2014) Florida
Building Code. Rob Viera was
present from the Florida Solar Energy Center to give a presentation on the
interim report for the research project. The research provides assessment of
the potential econmomic impacts of implementing the legislatively delayed
requirements of the Florida Building Code, 5th Edition (2014): A
second fire service access elevator as contained in Section 403.6.1 of the
Florida Building Code. The TAC noted that they would like to see more research on the advantages
of adding a second fire service access elevator. After some lengthy
discussion a motion was made to accept the interim report as presented by
James Schock and seconded by Brad Schiffer. The motion passed unanimously. |
