Members Present :

The meeting was chaired by Jim Goodloe. Attendees were as follows:

Jeff Gross, Hamid Bahadori, Brad Schiffer, Jim Schock, and Peter Schwab.

Meeting Activities :

1. The committee discussed and provided recommendation to the Commission on the following requests for Declaratory Statement:

DCA07-DEC-020 by Ed Riley, Fire Code Official, Collier County

DCA07-DEC-038 by Ed Rile, Fire Code Official, Collier County .

2. The committee discussed Brad Schiffer's proposed code changes addressing potential conflict which may exist between the Florida Fire Prevention Code and the Florida Building Code and deferred any action on this to the April 9, 2007 meeting.

3. The committee discussed technical research needs on subjects related to fire and lifesafety and provided the following list of potential research subjects:

- Research the lifesafety provisions/fire of the Florida Building Code with regard to passive fire resistive measures versus active fire protection measures. [How much do you need of each?]

- Conduct research project necessary to cross reference the Florida Fire Prevention Code and the Florida Building Code provisions and code interpretations/DEC Statements [hyperlink both codes].

- Study the potential of utilizing one code subject over the other.

- Continue to correlate the FBC and the FFPC.
