This request was originally made during the permit process; we are asking for re-consideration at this point to not provide wheelchair lifts to the duplex buildings per our detailed Design Professional Comments PDF.

We are requesting vertical accessibility be waived specifically and exclusively for the four duplex buildings (a total of 8 guest rooms out of 33). The remaining 25 guest rooms, as well as all site amenities, provide a parity of guest experience at the resort already (with access to all types of guest rooms, equal views from those rooms to the water, parking and access to all amenities the resort has to offer). Additional access to the duplex buildings would not increase the parity of a guest's experience with or without any form of disability.

The hardship of providing accessibility to the 4 duplex buildings (8 total guest room units) arises due to the specific location of this project within a VE flood zone and seaward of the Coastal Construction Control Line; without the building code requirement to elevate the structures, these duplex buildings would otherwise be single-story buildings accessed entirely from the ground.
