Opening
and Meeting Attendance
The workshop was opened
at 10:00 AM, and the following Commissioners participated:

Rule Development Workshop on Rule 9B-72.090
Jeff Blair, Commission Facilitator,
explained that the Commission’s Product Approval POC provided written comments
regarding Rule 9B-72.090 as follows:
Change
the Building Code Information System (BCIS) to allow the upload of an
attachment for the self-affirmation method in the Building Code Information
System. This will allow evaluating engineers to submit additional documentation
to demonstrate compliance with subsequent versions of the Code.
The Rule Development
Workshop was opened and an opportunity
was presented for public comment. At the conclusion of public comment an
opportunity was offered for Commission discussion, and then the Commission took
the following action:
Commission Actions:
Motion—The
Commission voted unanimously, 19 – 0 in favor, to allow
the upload of an attachment for the self-affirmation method in the Building
Code Information System, providing a method for the entity or individual who
originally certified that the product complied with the requirement of one
Edition of the Code complies with the Updated Edition of the Code, and
to proceed with Rule Adoption on Rule 9B-72.090 by conducting a Rule Adoption
Hearing at the February 2009 Commission meeting.
Rule Development Workshop on Rule 9B-72.180
Jeff Blair, Commission Facilitator,
explained that the Commission’s Product Approval POC and Structural TAC
provided written comments regarding Rule 9B-72.180 as follows:
The POC and
TAC have reviewed the following standards and recommend the Commission amend
Rule 9B-72.180 to recognize them as equivalent to the revised editions:
ANSI/DASMA108-02 Standard Method for
Testing Sectional Garage Doors and Rolling Doors: Determination of Structural
Performance under Uniform Static Air Pressure Difference is equivalent to
ANSI/DASMA 108-05;
TPI 1-02 National Design Standards for
Metal-Plate-Connected Wood Truss Construction is equivalent to TPI 1-07; and,
ASTM E 1300-02 Practice for
Determining Load Resistance of Glass in Buildings is equivalent to ASTME E
1300-04.
